Little Ice Age

This document presents six characters with a baked-in situation for The Burning Wheel, enabling any group to jump in and start playing. Includes character artwork by Icarus (demon-sushi.com).

In an otherwise idyllic woodland kingdom, there is an impending famine. The signs are everywhere, but most are unwilling to look for nor come to terms with them. What starts as an inconspicuous grain shortage evolves into utter devastation from starvation and strife, perhaps the fall of the kingdom itself. The characters start by managing the crisis in their village, but as the situation worsens, they must test their own radical solutions or raise their banners in the oncoming resource wars; whatever their approach, the GM must ensure there is little to no available food for the course of the campaign.
